Amazon Escalates its Battle Against Hatchette

http://nyti.ms/1goYymf

This is unethical and just plain
unfair… Even though one has to wonder how much profits the publisher
(as the middleman) is making in the sale of each book, cutting the cost
of a book doesn’t only bite into just the profits of the publisher, but
also that of the author. What’s even worse, Amazon, as one of the bigger
online retailers, has the clout to do this if it wants to….

Here is a look at what author, James Patterson, thinks.

Although
it is true that Patterson does have a point, he fails to take into
account smaller, less known writers and books that may be outside of
“what Americans want”. The comment about Amazon being a great way for
lesser known authors to publish and make available their works to a
larger audience is telling. Though Amazon isn’t the only way for lesser
known authors to get their works out.
