I came across this, just this morning… and this was truly a heartbreaking and heartwarming story. One of the things that is driving me to study international studies, and then international relations, is the idea of peace through understanding and dialogue. I don’t know where this idea came from… maybe from an idealistic view of the world that I got from watching Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny before starting college. But I’ve continued to think about it at various times throughout my college career. If I have ever had any dream as to what I want to do in life, it has been to go out into conflict or war torn areas, stay there, listen to the people there, and find ways to bridge gaps that have existed for long periods of time.
